Thanks to Polix, we now know the basics of BlazBlue Continuum Shift. And so will you, after watching this special multipart episode.
Not only have we had another new guest on the show and played another new game we haven´t had on so far, we also decided to make the first tutorial episode.
Daniel “Polix” Williams was nice enough to come down from vienna to teach us some BlazBlue Continuum Shift and we actually learned quite a lot. Starting from the very basics of how the control layout looks like and how the game compares to SSF4 or even MvC3, down to a little more advanced topics like Rapid Cancels, Emergency Rolls, Fatal Counters and more.
I actually bought the game together with Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and had it lying around for quite some time now, but its complexity made me shy away from it and I might never have picked it up, if it wasn´t for our guest and his enthusiasm.
And after going through the basics of the game with our newfound mentor, I´m glad I finally got around to playing it, because it´s definatly up there with the best fighting games available right now.
I will spend much more time with the game in the future and since there are quite a few BlazBlue players in Austria and especially at the VirtualDojo Vienna, I will learn even more about the game in the coming weeks and months.
This video goes out to all those who haven´t picked up or even heard of BlazBlue yet. We hope, after watching episode 5, you´ll be familiar with the basics and are willing to give it a try yourself!
Oh and by the way: Shortly after we recorded this episode, BlazBlue Continuum Shift 2 was released (at least for XBox360), but don´t worry. We only talk about the basic game-mechanics in this tutorial, which haven´t changed in CS2.
